AUT University is home to over 20,000 students from all walks of life. The website is a key recruitment tool for all current, future and past students.
The AUT University website redesign was a collaborative effort involving both the Web Centre and Design teams to bring a customised user experience whereby the user could choose what persona type they were and then customize the overall look and feel of the website with the relevant content and information to better suit their user experience requirements.
The collaborative UX design process involved researching, interviewing and testing different personality types that included: High School Students both domestic and international, Mature Students, Parents, Career Advisors, Researchers, External Partners and Alumni. We were then able to create user personas and generate a customer journeys for each.
Using low fidelity designs and wire-frames, we conducted extensive A/B user testing with 8 persona types to determine the best way of displaying AUT information and content without having any brand influence on the UX. We were then able to refine the designs into modular content that could be more easily duplicated on the site, and then later applied the AUT brand guidelines using color to represent each school and research area within the University.
